It's the morning after of one of the biggest fashion events of the year. I was so excited that I got to see the magic happen from the sidelines. Anna Wintour was one of the first to arrive at The Metropolitan Museum and she waved to her screaming fans. Hundreds of New Yorkers came out to see the beautiful dresses and celebrities that we all adore.
The Met Gala was special this year because they were honoring the incredibly reclusive Rei Kawakubo, founder of Comme Des Garçon, and she is the second designer ever honored by the Met Gala; the first being Yves Saint Laurent. I was reading the interview Vogue had with Kawakubo and she said the most brilliant thing that I just have to share. She said, "I know we will get people who will laugh at it and not see the intention - the ones who reduce fashion to wearability... but I hope most people will be inspired by it." Her collection over the last couple decades has known to play with proportions and texture, it really is a work of art. I recommend everyone to go see the exhibit at the Met when you have the chance, it opens May 4th to the public.
I have a couple people that I thought looked breathtaking last night. Rihanna captured the Avant-garde theme perfectly in her Comme Des Garçon ensemble, created by Guo Pei, winning the best look of the night in my eyes. I also adored Ruby Rose's Burberry gown and of course, Cara Delevingne looked like a dream in Chanel couture. What was your favorite look?
