I'm currently taking a fashion forecasting class and we were invited to the ESP Trend Lab offices to learn about what they do. During the presentation we learned how their business works and some of the tools they use to figure out the upcoming trends. All over the table they had theses binders filled with inspiration for color, life, men, and women. I was flipping through the "ladylike" for women binder and found some key looks and styles for women this season.
Red, Black, And White
The ESP Trend Lab book described the uniqueness of each color. They wrote that the color black "is authoritative and powerful", red "is a warm and positive color associated with our most physical needs, and our will to survive" and "white affects the mind and body by aiding mental clarity".
You can see above the types of materials and prints this trend includes such as tweed, houndstooth, and cheeky prints like the lips or eyes. The color palette ranges from a charcoal black to a steel grey, a candy apple red to burgundy, and stark white to a delicate cream.
This trend is all about being a fearless independent women that isn't afraid to take a ride on the wild side. It's all about wearing sleek black leather, cigarette pants, white knits. Black, grey and white dominate this trend.
The Swinging '60s
During the 1960's there was a cultural revolution driven by the youth in London. All the creatives gathered in the city and created one of my personal favorite styles, mod.
This trend includes garments such as mini skirts, mini dress, chain metal dresses, and mock turtleneck tops. This decade had a lot of fun prints like polka dots, plaid, and anything super funky and colorful.
